Some days back I was discussing with one of my friend about the use of Visiting Cards in today’s high-tech world. People exchange their visiting cards when they go on some business conference and all, so that they have their business and contact details handy always in case need arises in future to be in touch. It is a regular custom in business world. But sometimes you run out of visiting cards in your pocket for one reason or so. Then people give their details on some piece of paper. Loosing that piece of paper is very high likely.
But I think now in this high-tech world where most of the business world has some kind of high-tech toy such as bluetooth enabled pocket pc, Wi-fi enabled device may be blackberry, Palm or some smartphone. Then what is the need of exchanging the visiting cards. You can do “Send contact via Bluetooth” or “Beam Contact” or even send an email with your vcard attached from your bluetooth enabled pocket pc, iPaq, blackberry or Palm. How easy it is….
But yes this high-tech method has its own pros and cons also. Not everyone has these high-tech toys. Not everywhere you get wi-fi or internet connectivity.
However going forward, visiting cards will become a thing of past.
