This is basically more of a common sense, not a big deal. But the effects are very good for a blogger to drive more traffic to his blog. Basically if you plan to put a comment on someone blog or reply to the comments on your own blog, then consider the following things first:
- Read the original post carefully before jumping on the conclusion to put it in the comment.
- Keep your comment brief. People don’t like to read big and verbose comments. If you definitely have a lot to say, better create a post on your own blog and leave a track back on the original post.
- Think whether you want your comments to be recorded. If yes, then leave a comment with authority. People like to read the material which is written with confidence. No one likes anonymous comments. They need to know who is behind those thoughts.
- You don’t always have something to say in return. It is not always necessary to say something in return every time you read a post. Sometimes silence is also very good. Think before commenting whether your comment will make any difference in the original post. Don’t just put a comment for the sake of driving traffic to your blog, DON’T SPAM.
- Be ready to back up what you say. Whatever you say, provide proper reference or at least provide links to authenticate what you are saying.
- Know when to stop a threaded discussion. Ideally any discussion can go on forever. So decide when to stop. If you want, stop the comments on that particular post and provide a summary of whatever came out of the discussion with proper credits to build goodwill and appreciate whoever commented on your blog. The readers will appreciate it and will definitely come back to your blog.
Try to follow these basic principles to effective use blogging. At the last, it is your blog, you decide how you want to manage it. But don’t forget to read Blog of knowledge, if you want subscribe in a feed reader.
