Generally the question arises, why should I read other blogs when I write one myself.  But that’s not true.  One blogger should read other blogs religiously as far as possible – 10 reasons why it is required are mentioned below:

  1. Blogs are unedited and uncensored – whatever comes to the blogger mind is there in the blog post, mostly unedited by the editor and uncensored by some authority.
  2. Blogs give you voice to say something – when you don’t like something or don’t agree with anything, you put it as a comment.  You don’t have to wait for the publisher to publish it, as is the case with printed magazines and newspapers.
  3. Blogs might have superior quality – now a days on lot of topics you will find superior quality content on blogs but nowhere else.  For example, review about some electronic device, how-to’s, guides etc…
  4. Blogs are not biased – blogger expresses his own views and thoughts and shares them with his readers or subscribers.  They are not biased to one particular product or political party.
  5. Blog connects the reader to the author directly – readers connect with the author directly with the help of comments and provide their own thought about the topic.  Readers can convey their thoughts as comments which can make a thread of opinions on the same topic.  Or at least the reader can email the author directly.
  6. Blogs provide intellectual stimulation – because they make you think on that topic and you are intellectually engaged in the conversation.
  7. Blogosphere is a community – yes, blogosphere is a community where like minded people meet and discuss about the same topic to share more information, exchange ideas and definitely talk about their favorite subject.
  8. Blog is a non-restricted publishing media – anyone and everyone who has something to say can blog and publish his own views on the same topic unlike the traditional newspapers, magazines and all.  And that too free of cost.
  9. Blogs are immediate – whenever you want to say something, want to share something with the world, you publish the post.  And that is out for the world to see.  It is not like weekly and bi-weekly magazines.
  10. Blogs provide information which is not obtainable elsewhere – Most of the time the information available on Internet in the form of blogs are not obtainable elsewhere.  Most of the time blogs are written on technical articles and the recent technology.  That information is not available in printed material like books and magazines.
