This is what is new at Gmail. Gmail now support IMAP.

Sync your inbox across devices instantly and automatically. Whether you read or write your email on your phone or on your desktop, changes you make to Gmail will be seen from anywhere you access your inbox. Don’t fret if you don’t see “IMAP Access” yet under the Settings menu. We’re rolling it out to everyone over the next few days. David Murray, Associate Product Manager posted on the Official Gmail Blog.

So how it helps you, now you can:

  • read an email in Gmail, then
  • move it to the “Starred” folder on your iPhone, then
  • archive it by moving it to “All Mail” in Outlook, then
  • see all of those changes on your Blackberry or PDA or any of the above devices.

Get ready for the latest update from Gmail team. It is being slowly rolled out, soon it will be available to you also if not now.
