With the coupon a full size car for 3 days cost me around $20 out of pocket. So ultimately I rented it from my nearest Hertz Local Edition in Plymouth.
When I went to pick-up my vehicle, the office was closed. NO ONE WAS THERE AT THE OFFICE. It was locked from outside without even a notice.
Fortunately, there was a lady there to pick-up her vehicle, she had their contact info. Someone will be there in 15 minutes was the answer we got after we called them. After 15 minutes wait I went inside to find out if I can take my car and go.
It took another 15 minutes for them to settle down and fetch my reservation information.
The lady at the counter completed the formalities and said, “I have a Ford Taurus for you.”
Oh no…! I said, don’t you have any other car. (I own a Ford Taurus only, so thought of getting something different)
No. I can give you Ford Mustang for $10 per day extra or Zephyr for $12 per day extra.
I thought of taking Mustang but it wouldn’t be good for a family vacation so I thought, I will go for Ford Taurus only.
Surprisingly, none of the cars were ready for pick-up. They were not even washed and cleaned. Not even checked for air pressure etc.
Finally after one hour I got the car key in hand.
- On the way I realized that there was no windshield fluid.
- And next day I saw there was not enough pressure on the right front wheel also.
- The vehicle was shaking.
- It was not at all in good condition.
This was the worst experience I have ever had with Hertz. Or I should say that the Hertz Plymouth Local Edition has been horrible recently as earlier I have got good service but that was back in 2005-2006. But now…
NOT GOOD VEHICLES.
STAFF IS RUDE.
I will never rent it from Hertz again at least from this location.

Thanks a lot for the info Laura.
I will definitely put this post there so that other Hertz customer think about it before renting a car from there.
You might try posting this on http://www.measuredup.com – it’s a new customer service website where consumers share their experiences with businesses (both national and local) – it would help a lot of potential Hertz customers to know this information.
