According to this blog post on the Official Gmail Blog, lot of small changes will be seen in Gmail by users using Firefox and IE7. Except the recent major IMAP access facility for Gmail, the coming changes won’t be noticeable easily. But some highlighted changes will be as follows:
-
Addition of new keyboard shortcuts
-
Faster mail loading by pre-fetching the messages in current view
-
Quick action of some common tasks
-
New and improved Contact Manager shared between other Google Apps
-
Integration of other Google products and their cross accessibility
-
Better Spam control
Couple of changes that I and many others would expect in Gmail is the general user interface (GUI) change. It is noteworthy that Gmail interface is still the same as it was then in 2004 when Gmail was initially launched, but others like Yahoo, AOL and Live have improved a lot since then. So I will definitely expect a major improvement in that area.
Rest, lets see what Google Gmail has in store for us down the line.
