Cheat Yahoo! to get POP3 access for free (Ymail, Rocketmail or Yahoo)

·

As you might have already heard that Yahoo! now provides two new domain ids : Ymail.com and Rocketmail.com besides the regular Yahoo.com.

This is because Yahoo! wants to attract you to get the perfect email address you always wanted. OK. So lets not talk about Yahoo! strategy behind it.Lets say you signed up for one email address with any of the domain id mentioned above at Yahoo.com, you didn't get POP3 access. You are supposed to upgrade to Mail Plus.
POP3 and IMAP are the facilities which enables accessing your emails from Outlook, Thunderbird or like Desktop applications. To know more about POP and IMAP, read this blog post on Gmail Blog.
So how do you get POP3 access but don't want to upgrade to Yahoo! Mail Plus. I have a trick. If you play nicely, you can get POP3 access for free and have a altogether new Ymail, RocketMail or Yahoo email address.Steps are mentioned below:
  1. Go to Yahoo.co.uk and click on Sign-up for an account.
  2. Fill in all the details.
  3. Select your login id with Yahoo.com, Ymail.com or Rocketmail.com.
  4. Complete the verification process.
  5. Get the email id.
  6. Now login to your email Inbox. (Doesn't matter, you may go to Yahoo.com or Yahoo.co.uk)
  7. Go to 'Mail Options' on the right top side of the Inbox.
  8. Click on POP3 and Mail Forwarding tab from the left side bar.
  9. Enable POP3 and Mail forwarding whatever way you want it.
  10. Look below image for clarity of what you will see.
Now enjoy POP3 for Yahoo mail for free life long. You won't even feel any difference at all. Cool huh....???? Below are the POP setting for configuring Ymail in Outlook or Thunderbird:
By the way there is another way of getting Yahoo mail POP3 access in Outlook and Thunderbird. If you liked this tip, why don't you show some love and share it with your friends, bookmark this blog or subscribe for Knowliz email newsletter for such tips regularly.
