Been using for a fair while now - left Lycos Mail when it lost its way - and not looked elsewhere since. I love the ability to set up "aliases", so I can have a "nickname" based email, but also have a more professional email address tied to the one inbox... that is usually a service only provided by ISP's and paid-for services

Hi Mario,
I just checked my account. In fact I was using IMAP on Thunderbird to access my account on GMX. It is free in US I think.
May be it is the same thing as Yahoo! is free for POP in UK but it costs in US.

Thanks
Anurag Bansal

Oh that's good information Mario.
But I think in US, there is no restriction on IMAP. I haven't configured it yet. Will update about it if I find it otherwise.

Thanks
Anurag Bansal

GMX has been in this bsuiness for a very long time in Germany, Not sure whether they now have a different offer outside their home country. GMX is very popular here although IMAP is only offered for paying customers. And the retention time for messages is not so long, they might disappear after 3months if not explicitly stored in different folders.
