Why?? Because the new wave beta have got some really cool features.
Highlights:
- Now Live messenger and Mail share the same list. No more duplicate contacts. Read complete review about new Windows Live Messenger on Messenger Blog.
- Now finally you can login from multiple computers at the same time.
- Live messenger gets a brand new interface with scenes and other GUI improvements.
- File & photo sharing got even easier. Just drag and drop. Read about it more on Live Messenger Space.
- Easy sync with Windows Live Calendar, works in offline mode too.
- Set up and share multiple shared calendars. Even with so many improved features, Calendar functionality still lacks lot of feature Yahoo calendar provides. Live Calendar has a long way to go. Lets hope for the best in Final release.
- Photo Gallery beta recognizes and tags faces.
- Undoubtedly one of the best blogging tool – Windows Live Write Beta, now adds the ability to use, import and upload videos directly to your favorite site like Youtube and embed the video to your blog post. Read more about it on Write Space.
- Movie maker beta gets a redesign but lacks lot of features mainly it can’t even trim the clips and show you a storyline etc.
- I don’t use other products so I better not review those as well here.
Check out the quick screen cast below:
Hope you like the details. I am seriously looking forward to get the new Live Hotmail they are planning to publish soon. These new products made me stick to Windows a little longer, else I am using Ubuntu Linux all the time. Below is a small video capture of the Messenger Beta as well.

@Vasudev:
I tried it again at the individual pages for Mail and other products. But it does download the same installer file everytime. No matter which standalone application you want to try.
And in my opinion, it has been a case when I first started trying Live Betas back in 2006.
But ya, if I go to individual blogs for these products, I might get a standalone installer, like previously I got for Live Writer.
Thanks for dropping on my blog and adding me as a friend.
Cheers

Hi Anurag
You can download whichever Windows Live product you want. Just check against them and you will download that only. Its just the Unified Installer which will give you choice to select the Live product you want to install.
Nice intro video of Live Messenger.
Thanks a lot Titus.
Keep visiting Knowliz.
Very nice tips about windows live.
Thank you, Anurag Bansal.

I use Windows Live Messenger more than Yahoo. I never used AIM. Gmail is evergreen.
I prefer Live Writer to use to blog most of my posts. Provides better control over some of the stuff.
Not a great fan of Scribefire as well because of not that attractive interface. Though I use it to compose my posts in office where Live writer doesn’t work because of firewall issues.
One thing which I don’t like about Live download is that everything is packaged in one installer. What if I want to install just one. I should be able to download just that. But that’s always a case with Microsoft. That’s why people are trying different options now.
DO NOT FORCE people…
MICROSOFT, you heard that….!!!!
Anyways…Thanks for appreciating…
Hmm I’m not very familiar with windows live.. I use AIM for all my chatting.. and gmail for email.. I might check it out tho. Nice Post
