Blogrush, AOL Pictures & Journal Shuts down, Changes in Google Adsense

1.  AOL Pictures is being Shut Down:
Some time ago I reported that AOL Journal is shutting down on 31st October, i.e. today and is moving to Google Blogger instead.
On a similar pattern, AOL Pictures is shutting down on 31st December.  But this time moving to Google owned Picasa, AOL Pictures is moving to Photoworks.  As per the message on AOL Pictures,
Dear AOL Pictures User:

We are sorry to inform you that, as of December 31, 2008, AOL will no longer provide the AOL Pictures online photo service.

The good news is that AOL has partnered with American Greetings® PhotoWorks® to enable continued access to your pictures through the PhotoWorks service. PhotoWorks provides unlimited free storage, just like AOL Pictures, as well as a variety of options for making creations and sharing your photos. Register for PhotoWorks now.

2.  Similar message was there for AOL Journal.  On the other hand AOL has revised its home page again and included lots of cool feature.  Check out yourself and read some details on RWW.
Looks like AOL is after some restructuring and consolidation of services under one homepage instead of moving the users to different services for different things.  Nice step…huh!!!
3.  Blogrush is being Shut Down:
On a separate note, Blogrush is also being shut down.  As per the communication to its users,
After careful consideration, we have decided to shutdown the BlogRush service.  If you have the widget code on your blog you will need to remove it.

BlogRush didn’t grow without its fair share of problems — from security issues to abusive users trying to ‘game’ the system to much lower click-rates than expected.  We also had some problems with trying to fairly control the quality of the network, and in the process made many mistakes in deciding what blogs should stay or go.  All of these issues, ultimately, limited the service’s full potential.

On behalf of the entire BlogRush team, we wish the best of luck to everyone with their own blogs, ideas, and crazy ventures.

Sincerely,
John Reese

4.  Adsense Help Group is closed
And one move Google has taken recently to show the true power of blogging by closing its Adsense Help Group from Google Groups. Now you can’t post any question on Adsense help group, instead you need to visit this blogspot blog to find out about your problems and ask your question through comments, may be.  As per Google, this new platform provides these features:
  • Question & answer format to help you find answers quickly. (Comments obviously)
  • Improved search functionality and integration with the AdSense Help Center (Google Blog Search)
  • Better spam detection and prevention
  • Public recognition of Top Contributors and frequent posters
  • Ability to subscribe to ask questions and receive answers via email (Comment RSS etc.)

I hope to see lots of changes in this industry going forward in this downturn.

What do you say about this?  Do you agree with me?  Lots of new services coming everyday, many competition based services are failing, etc. etc…
