Today finally Songbird 1.0 is released.
I have been using it with version 0.4.  First time I somehow found it on Mozilla projects page and thought of giving it a try.
Thank God, I did.
Songbird is awesome.  In short, Songbird is a music player with Firefox.  Yes, you can feel the entire Firefox built inside a full fledged music player.
Some of the best features of Songbird are as follows (for those who haven’t tried it yet.)
  • Browse internet while in the media player.  (Firefox inbuilt)
  • Customizable with lots of add-on for themes and other things.
  • Integrated services like last.fm scrobbling
  • Discover Flickr photos, YouTube videos, last.fm biographies, Google news (and more) for the currently playing artist using Mash tape
  • Buy concert tickets within Songbird.
  • See the entire information about the song playing, artist and album etc.
  • Drag and drop album art to update the song information.
  • Smart playlists with rules etc.
  • Many more…to know more about other details of enhancements, read the Songbird team blog post.
Checkout the below slide cast I have created to show you some image captures of various Songbird features and themes.

Give Songbird 1.0 a try, I am sure you will like it.  And if you wanna know how to install Songbird on Ubuntu (Linux), please follow directions on this post.  For me,

Songbird has replaced Windows Media Player.
