This particular post is helpful for those planning to sponsor a US visa for their parents, relatives or friends as a visitor or legal permanent resident status.
Well, actually The paperwork has just got complicated.  You need to take the affidavit of financial support (I-134), a little more seriously else you may be sued.

What is I-134?
The I-134 is a contract between the sponsor and the US government stating that the sponsor will be responsible for the financial health of the applicant.

Until now, even if the sponsored alien was unable to secure financial support from his sponsor, for whatever reason, there was little legal action that the U.S. government could take. Instead, money from public taxes would be allocated toward maintaining the health of unaided aliens.

It has been noticed that recently a rising number of instances have come into light where sponsored aliens have become a financial liability to the US government.  That is why the immigration authorities have got a new clause implying that if the sponsored alien becomes a government liability, then the agency offering assistance may be able to sue you to recover the cost.
