Backgrounds – a wallpaper application under Entertainment category in iTunes Store which is among the top 25 FREE must have iPhone applications.  This is one of my favorite application on my iphone because it lets me browse through and download all the cool wallpapers for FREE.  
Best part is, the wallpapers are categorised very systematically.  Very first screen puts the wallpapers into three sections -  Popular, Recent and Categories.
Quite obvious, just keep scrolling left or right and check out all the wallpapers.  Whenever something strikes your eyes, just tap on it and again tap on ‘Save’.  The wallpaper will be added to your ‘Camera Roll’ from there you can set it as your wallpaper.  All downloads are free and there is no catch involved.  
And if you don’t have patience to see what all is available, just do a search within the application and  download whichever you like out of the search result.  So how is that.
Let me tell you something more, as far as I could browse through, only thing I can say is, ‘Looks like all the images are manually selected for the application.’  They are all really beautiful.  See some examples below in the slideshow:
