Ultimate ToDo does not sync actual Google Tasks however – the ones that sit in a small window in Gmail or Gcal.
For that I wrote a special app – GeeTasks. It syncs with Google Tasks and works offline.

Just downloaded this yesterday to find that when you sync with Toodledo all the dates on the iphone app are wrong. Thought this might just be because I’m in New Zealand but after some searching of the Toodledo forum I see that this has been going on for over a year for other users http://www.toodledo.com/forums/search.php?search=ultimate+todos+&fid=0&tid=0 I’ve sent an email to the developers so if they come back with a fix I’ll amend this otherwise save your money. A to do list with the wrong dates is basically useless.

I’ve used the Palm Pilot for 15 years and now find myself having to find something new. It seems that the rest of the world does not value the all-in-one desktop application that Palm had. Palm is no longer supporting it, so I am looking for other options. It amazes me that non-Palm users are content with these long work-arounds to try and get what seems to me a very basic function of a PDA. Why is this so hard? At this point, now that I have learned that Ultimate Todos is a third-party (or should I say fourth-party) app and that it is no longer free, I don’t think I’ll go with this workaround. I want something simple, reliable and quick that will sync my todo list with my iPod Touch.
How true. There is nothing that even comes close to all the amazing features on the Palm OS Desktop. And now, all the great “cool” features of the new “smart” phones require us to jump through hoops in order to perform (or at least attempt to perform) what was once a simple and useful task. In most cases, we are simply forced to do without the great features we came to rely upon. This is progress?
If all you want is to get your Google Taks to iPhone check out GeeTasks. It’s a new app that provides offline view/edit access to Google Tasks on iPhone. I’m the developer and I can answer any questions in the forums on http://www.geetasks.com
Besides accessing Google Tasks on iPhone, the purpose is to have a good GTD app which can help become productive.
Though if someone is just looking to see Google tasks on iPhone, then there are many apps including the one mentioned above.
I would appreciate anyone who has used GeeTasks to throw some light and tell us how it works and what they would suggest other readers.
I appreciate your comment and telling us new way of getting Google Tasks on iPhone.
Cheers
Thanks for being welcoming, I was kind of nervous about being shooed away for the shameless self-promotion.
To clear one thing up, GeeTasks is the only *offline* Google Tasks app.
Myself I have implemented GTD over Google Tasks per this technique (no affiliation): http://webworkerdaily.com/2009/03/16/getting-things-done-with-gmail-tasks/ In fact that article was one of the key things that focused my attention on Google Tasks. It’s not as nice as a “real” GTD, but it’s a decent system for a beginner like myself.
If you’d like to take a look I’ll send you a promo code.
this is actually lame. first of all syncing once a day with google calendar is lame because changes in to dos need to be updated immediately on the calendar not 24 hours later. how can you think that’s productive?! and as far as i can tell toodledo’s to-do’s don’t show up on google calendar as they would in ical -like scheduled tasks. all i can see is a checkbox on the date in google calendar that you have to click and then sign in to toodledo to see your tasks? also really unproductive. i also just added some events on my iphone calendar that are now not syncing back to google calendar. does that take 24 hours also?
@marni,
Looks like you didn’t try Toodledo properly, there is an option of adding Toodledo as a separate calendar as well in your Google Calendar so that it shows the tasks as entries not just ‘Tick Marks’ as Remember the Milk does, it you tried that one too.
FYI, Toodledo now support push notification as well, so you don’t even have to wait for its syncing operation with Google, no matter how much time it takes.
I have never found any issue with Toodledo and for me it works just perfect. May be your requirements are different.
Let me know if this piece of information helped you.
Cheers
Anurag Bansal
which push notifications do you use anurag
@marniyael:
I am not sure if you have Toodledo iPhone app installed on your iPhone. This iPhone app provides you the ability to switch on Push Notification with OS3.0 update.
It doesn’t work with the ‘Ultimate Todo’ app I mentioned in this tutorial though as of now.
i have this app but i can’t find this setting for push notification you are talking about
@marni,
Once you run the updated app, it shows you the option of enabling Push Notification.
You may look at the image capture from my iPhone screen at the ‘Push Notification’ settings – http://yfrog.com/11imagepusj
Hope that helps you configure the setting for Toodledo.
Cheers

I use MIssing Sync for iPhone (2.0 version) with the free Fliq iphone apps to sync my iphone and ipod touch notes, to dos, calendars, file and docs with my Mac (they also have PC version)
you can get details here:
http://www.markspace.com/iphone/mac/
Yes, you are right.
Apparently there are two apps in iTunes store –
1) Toodledo (Cost $3.99) and
2) Ultimate Todos (Cost Free – $0.99 – $4.99, Varies)
Toodledo is official Toodledo app whereas Ultimate Todos is from MMDESoft.
Ultimate Todo seems to be the one I tried and used in this article. This app doesn’t give you the option of selecting Due Time for the task.
Official Toodledo app seems to give you the option of selecting Due Time and other details.
Personally I would suggest using the official Toodledo app which is near perfect except some visual shortcomings.
Hope it clarifies the confusion.
I use nuevasync (http://www.nuevasync.com) to sync my google calendar and iCal to my iPhone. Works great without any problems and its free
There is both a Toodledo app and an Ultimate Todo’s app.
How can they both be the same application? They are priced different.
Just do a search and type Toodledo and you will see it.
APP is up back to $3.99
In Gmail you can merge contacts which are shown as duplicates. Other than that I am not sure if there is any other thing you can do to rectify this problem.
i always having problem when i sync with windows mobile .. is there any setting for duplicate entry ? i hate to update my address book manually because of this
@Michael:
First you wished for an iPhone and then said you backed up your contacts. Didn’t make sense to me?
Can you explain?
Thanks
Wish I have an iPhone.. there lots of cool apps that come with it (as in , in the shop)
Speaking of Google Sync, thankfully I backed up my contacts as it suggested. My contacts were gone after syncing it for the first time
My friend,
Toodledo iphone app is called as Ultimate Todos, for your kind information.
Why not use the Toodledo app available from the app store. Seems more intuitive than using a third party app like Ultimate Todos.
Yes, sometimes while adding the URL to Google Calendar it gives error. Try logging out and then adding the iCal again.
It worked for me, should work for you too.
May be some Cache setting or something.
Hope it helps.
Just tried it and when I add the URL to Google Calendar, I get an error message saying that the URL did not contain a calendar in a valid iCal or GCal format.
syncing takes too long to be useful. google syncs once per day sometime in more than a day. they should have refresh settings or refresh subscribed calendars more frequently. The way I do it is to use ical to subscribe to toodledo and sync to google using busy sync. It as amazingly useful. Cost 25 buck but very easy to use and simple.
Yes it was free till few days back. Recently they made it paid with a new logo (at least). Not sure if they added any new features in the paid version.
@mafia1245:
Actually this app was FREE for a limited time at the time of writing this article.
very nice however the ultimate toodo app is $0.99 not free
