10 Advanced Spam proof email services – Fights Spam, Organizes inbox

Let me guess…what kind of emails are there generally in your inbox.
  • Tons of spam emails,
  • Advertisement/promotion emails and newsletters from services you use like Buzznet, dotphoto, ebay, paypal etc etc…
  • Twitter follow emails
  • Emails from other social networks like Facebook, Linkedin etc.
  • Forwarded emails from your friends containing jokes and philosophical articles.
  • Friend request mails from Orkut, Facebook etc.
  • Various other invite emails to the services your friends use like Plaxo, hi5 etc.
  • Job alerts even if you are not seeking employment.
  • Finally, small number of important personal emails.
Result —- Email and Information overload and Inbox filled with ever increasing ‘Unread mails’ which you thought of reading later but never got time.
Now the question is how to reduce this email overload.  Well, for your help, there are some services which you can use to reduce a little bit of this burden.

I have selected these 10 services which can be of help time to time depending on what you wanna do.  I have categorised them based on purpose and usefulness.  But you may use them for other purposes also.

Self destructive / Temporary Disposable Emails
Following are some email services that give you temporary emails.  The emails you can use while checking out new services, shopping sites and the places you are not so sure about.
These disposable emails will get self-destructed after the defined time automatically, enabling you to check out new services without revealing your actual email address.
This way, you fight spam because you are not revealing your actual address at all.  (List and a little description is below, without any order)
At the end of this list, there is a screen cast showing all these services live.
  1. Scr.im: There are times when you want to give out email address in public e.g a forum, blog post, job posting etc.  But that can end up getting heavy spam in your Inbox.  Scr.im (currenly in beta) converts your actual email address into a link that can be shared anywhere you want.  Trick is, the spam bots won’t be able to read your email address and if they are human they need to prove it to reveal your actual email address.
  2. Whspr: Now the drawback of Scr.im (I know what you were thinking) of revealing your email address finally to some human can also be dangerous, so Whspr eliminates that problem too.  Because without revealing your address, whspr will forward that email to you.  So you are 100% safe, as long as whspr is safe.
  3. Mailinator: You create your own email randomly but ending with any of the seven domains like …@mailinator.com, …@mailinator2.com, …@sogetthis.com, …@mailin8r.com, …@mailinator.net, …@spamherelots.com or …@thisisnotmyrealemail.com.  Check on the site if the id you created got any email.  As simple as that.  No sign-ups, no passwords.  You can even check this email using RSS.
  4. Melt Mail: Define time frame (3 hr, 6 hr, 12 or 24 hr) to use the temporary email.  Good for places where you need to provide email just to get a download link or key for any software or something.  Use this service, provide your temporary email and be assured you will never receive any email from that site again after temporary email is destructed.  In between all emails sent to this Melt Mail will be forwarded to your actual address.
  5. 10MinuteMail: Similar service but email self destructs in 10 minutes.  Though you can buy more time on the same page.  Your emails will show up on the same page your temporary email was created.
  6. Guerillamail: Similar service but email self destructs in 15 minutes 1 hour.
  7. Spam.la: Create any random email yourself such as ‘randomid@spam.la’ and check the email at spam.la.  All emails created with this service are publicly available.  Use filter to check yours.  No need to worry about spam emails, and the time it will self destruct.  Spammer will keep flooding your randomid@spam.la.  Interesting….
Email organizers:
Lets say you already have so many emails in your inbox, some archived, some read, some unread and lots of spam.  And you don’t even remember who have sent you emails.  At the same time you get email with links, attachments, photos, documents and videos — Right.  How to arrange all that information in your inbox already existing. Well, the following services might help.
  1. Otherinbox: (Save your inbox for real people)
It helps you organize your inbox by moving less important mails out of your inbox, so you can concentrate on important mails.  You can come back to read other emails later.  OIB automatically recognizes mails sent through services like ebay, meijer, kohl’s, gap etc.  Puts these kind of emails to a separate place and yes, puts your coupon details separately which came with these emails — in case you want to use them.
At the same time OIB give you unlimited disposable emails addresses as well to fight spam.  I will definitely recommend you to try this service.
  2. Otherinbox
  3. CC:betty: As the name says.  You need to just CC to betty@ccbetty.com on the emails you want to organize with this service.  You can send photos, files and can track group conversations.
Cc: betty on any email to organize your message and its contents – photos, addresses, documents, links – and create a mailspace where everyone can track replies, view and add content.  Give it a try.
I guess, if you effectively use these services, you will bring yourself down to Inbox Zero soon and will be able to utilize that time somewhere else.
Please feel free to share this article with as many friends as you want, post it on Digg, Stumble it or just Tweet it but remember don’t spam your friends.

    Very true,
Many people don’t even know such things exist and that why they end up having multiple id’s for multiple purposes to tackle the issue.
But ultimately end up mixing all that up.
But with this self destructive email funda, you can save your time. Use one of the random 10-20 minute email to try the service, if you like, change the email later. Right, quite handy.
    Happy you liked it.

    Cheers
