Yes, yes, I know you are thinking, not again.  But you know what, this is not the same stuff again.  I am going to tell you to save gas in 5 easy steps.

But today, everything will be crystal clear and that too in very easy steps.  Here’s how:

  1. Use internet to search for the best gas prices using the services like Gasbuddy.com, AAA Gas Price Checker or any other similar sites.  There are some really good iphone apps as well which help you search for cheap gas prices on the go.
  2. Use GPS to find the best route for your destination.  That saves time and gas both as you are not wandering to find the exact location.  Try to chose the shortest rather than faster but make sure that route doesn’t have too many lights or heavy traffic because that is going to even affect it adversely.
If you drive faster, you gas mileage reduces by upto 10-30%.

  3. Try to participate in carpooling activities.  Chances are you will find lot of people working in your own company or nearby companies who ride on the same route as you.
Use Facebook, Twitter or Google Groups to set up your Carpool and encourage other friends, neighbor and coworkers to do the same thing.
  4. Apply for credit cards that give you gas benefits like money back, gas points or things like that something same as Frequent Flier Miles.
  5. Use the merchant and store cards like Speedy Gas Reward Card that gives you points every time you fill gas at the pump.  You can redeem those points for money or at least buy some beverages from the store.
They cost you nothing but you add up points pretty quickly.  (Remember to use the membership card though every time you fill gas.)
