As I said, you need to have a WordPress Blog to be able to convert it into an iPhone Optimized webapp.  Before I go into the details, let me show you how my blog looks on an iPhone with/without this technique:

Obviously you would say that the second one is more readable, though the first one is with the exact blog theme you see on the desktop.

You will be happy to know that transforming a blog from the actual to an iPhone optimized one has advantages like it loads a lot faster and is easier to read. (Look the chart below)

How to convert into iPhone Optimized version?

  • Search and install WPTouch Plug-in for WordPress.
  • Activate and go to settings.
  • Most of the default settings are good enough, but you may tweak as per your preference.
  • Select the skin parameters.
  • Upload Home Page icon as per directions mentioned in the plug-in.
  • Save options.
  • Go to your iPhone and open your blog.
  • You should see your very own iPhone optimized blog as shown above.

You can tweak the settings further if you want.  That’s it.  Enjoy.

Some of the other screens will look as shown below:

Hope you enjoy this article.  Let me know in comments if you use any other way of doing that.  One other way of converting any blog to an iPhone optimized version is using mobify.me.  But I am sure there will be many other ways too.

Personally I loved the way WPTouch plug-in works and makes it magically simple to convert WordPress blog into an iPhone webapp.
