Bookmarklets are the innovative way to use a site without actually visiting them.  Bookmarklet is nothing but a kind of shortcut (or bookmark) which has some kind of javascript built in.  When you click it while being on the other site, this bookmarklet performs the task it is supposed to do, such as creating a bit.ly short url and things like that.

I have been using some of these bookmarklets for quite some time so I thought of sharing them with Knowliz readers.  These 25 bookmarklets I am sharing are useful for various purposes such as sharing links to Twitter and Facebook, subscribing to blogs etc.  Below is the complete detail about them duly categorised based on purpose:

Sharing the Love:

1. Share on Facebook (Official) : Share anything quickly on Facebook.
2. Share on Twitter using TBUZZ: Super simple way to share anything on Twitter.  Creates a bit.ly short link automatically, loads in sidebar and lets you add your words before posting.
3. Share on Linkedin: Start the discussion on Linkedin by sharing quickly with this bookmarklet.
4. Memethis: Share anything (text, image, video) quickly to the so called Twitter competitor from Yahoo! called Yahoo! Meme.
5. Mixx it: Submit stories on Mixx, a Digg like voting platform.
6. Ping this: Want to share something on multiple social networks quickly, then Ping is the best service to use.  The easiest way to update all your status, micro-blogs and blogs at the same time.
7. Amplify it: When you find something interesting and want to share quickly on various social networks – just amplify it.  Amplify lets you collect and share specific paragraphs from an article to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and other social networks.

Fast Blogging:

1. Press this: Easiest way to post to WordPress blog.
2. Posterous: Easiest way to post to Posterous blog.
3. Tumblr: Super simple way to create a post on Tumblr blog.
4. Soup.io: Easily mix anything in your soup.
5. Vox: Easily share a link or create a blog post on your Vox blog.
   All the above let you share or create a post with highlighted text, image or video using the bookmarklets.  If all you want to do is quickly share some news or share an article with your comments on it, using these bookmarklets is the best way to go.
6. Vodpod: Find an interesting video online, start collecting them with Vodpod.  Use Vodpod to collect the online videos that make it hard to find the embed code to post to your blog.  Or save those videos to watch them later.
   Another bookmarklet for WordPress users is “Vodpod to WordPress” that lets you create a quick post with embedded video in it, something like Press this above.

Short URLs on the fly:

1. @Bit.ly: Create a short URL of the page you are visiting to share easily.
2. Su.pr: Give your short url a support of StumbleUpon community by using su.pr URL shortener.
3. Google Short links: If you use Google Apps, then this is the best way to create publicity of your own domain.  Use Google Short links to use your own domain as short URL.  (You will have to create your own bookmarklet for this one)
4. Pretty Link: If you use WordPress plug-in Pretty Link, then this bookmaklet is pretty useful to create short URL on the fly using your own domain. (Create your own from Pretty link settings)
5. @cli.gs: Create short URL using cli.gs.

Miscellaneous:

1. Subscribe with Google Reader: Subscribe to a blog quickly in Google reader.  This bookmarklet will automatically find the RSS of the blog and take you to your Google reader account.
2. Zhiing: Share your exact location with anyone using Zhiing.  Send your location details to anyone with an iPhone, Blackberry or any other smartphone.  They can receive it as SMS, email or through Zhiing iPhone app, if they have it.
3. Instapaper: Want to read something later, use Instapaper to save it to Read it Later.
4. Evernote: Take note of anything and everything online or offline. Later when you have time, then check it out what you saved.
5. Screenr: Start to create a demo or screen cast from any webpage using Screenr.
6. Google Transliteration (Type in Hindi): Want to type in foreign languages, use and create this bookmarklet for your preferred language. (Read more about it here.)
7. Print Friendly: Why waste paper by printing unnecessary ads and other things?  Use Printer Friendly bookmarklet to selectively print what you want and delete what you don’t to save paper.  Try to become a little ECO-friendly, shall we?
