Do you use Twitter? – Yes.  Do you use Microsoft Outlook? – Yes.
Then why should you use other applications to use Twitter.  Why can’t you use Twitter while within Outlook?  Anyway Outlook is open all the time.
So friends, I recently discovered a Twitter add-on for Outlook – TwInbox.  TwInbox lets you use Twitter directly from Outlook.  You don’t need to visit or use any other Twitter application.

Bonus : All the tweets are backed up automatically.  So you can refer them anytime you want just like any other email item in your Outlook Inbox. Below are some of the salient features of TwInbox:

  • Update Twitter status directly from Outlook.
  • Receive your friend updates in Outlook.
  • Archive, manage, group and search your tweets the same way you manage your email.
  • Search, track keywords which is perfect for keeping up to date with the Twitter buzz on your name, brand, interests, etc.
  • Upload and post picture files and Outlook email attachments.
  • TwInbox uses Twitpic, Posterous and Twitgoo for sharing images on Twitter.  (Request the team to add support for more Twitter image sharing services)
  • Assign custom folder and categories to new messages.
  • Use Outlook’s “Reply” and “ReplyAll” commands to send twitter direct messages and @replies.
  • Automatically sort new tweets into per-sender folders.
  • Shorten URLs with tinyurl. (Hope the team allows other Short URL services with API too.)
  • See graphs of your Twitter usage statistics.
  • Tweets sent to you (@replies and direct) are marked with high importance, so you can see them at a glance.

To get started, just download and install TwInbox for Outlook plugin.  Enter you twitter credentials and start updating twitter status right from Outlook.  Read the Quick Start Guide here.
