Remember some time back, here at Knowliz we introduced you to Chrome to Phone feature of Froyo 2.2. With that feature you can send anything like text, URL or phone number etc. to your android phone but you can’t install apps remotely. Another reason you can’t do that today is because Android Market doesn’t have a better web interface where you could browse through the apps to find something useful.
Anyway, nothing is impossible in today’s world. Head over to AppBrain to get both of your wishes fulfilled. Browse all the apps in Android US Market with category and if you like install it remotely to your android phone.
Now browsing part is super easy. You just login with your Gmail account you have your android phone set up with. Login to Appbrain using your Gmail id and start searching for all the apps.
But to remotely install, you would need two small apps on your Android phone. You can download these two apps from Android Market direcly on your phone. These apps are:
- AppBrain App Market
- Fast Web Installer
Once you have these two apps on your phone, just launch these once to go through the basic setup and voila!!! You are all set to install apps on your android phone remotely using AppBrain website. When you find the app you were looking for on AppBrain, just hit the install button on the app description page. Check your android, something is getting downloaded automatically…. isn’t it.
Best thing, you can sync all your installed apps with AppBrain. This way you can even install all apps quickly if you happen to reset your phone to factory settings.
Isn’t is super simple? Hopefully Google adds a similar feature to Android Market and gives us an easy way to explore apps on the web. Let us know in comments if you find this feature useful.
