One of the best things about Android is that you can customize almost every aspect of the operating system.  One such customization is KEYBOARD.

Android default keyboard is not bad, but it is not extra-ordinary either.  However you can speak to your android instead of typing.  But what if you have to type something in public.  You don’t want to speak.  At the same time some people always concerned about typing/tapping on a small screen because of their big fingers.

Now all these concerns will be a thing of past – once you try SWYPE keyboard.

They say,

“Why you need to type, when you can just Swype!”

What is Swype?

Swype - Text Input for Screens

Swype provides a faster and easier way to input text on any touchscreen. With one continuous finger or stylus motion across the screen keyboard, the patented Swype technology enables users to input words faster and easier than other data input methods — at over 40 words per minute.  There is no need to be very accurate as well.  Check out the demo video below.

How to get Swype?

As of now Swype is in closed beta.  For some time you can’t even register to get involved with beta.  So you will have to wait until it reopens for public or it comes pre-installed on your next Android phone like Samsung Galaxy S.  Watch out this blog for the update…

Swype - logoAs long as you have an Android phone, you should be able to install Swype and use it side by side with your default Android keyboard.  It might just appear sometime in the Android Market.  But as of now it is available to some beta users only.

Swype is yet another thing your iPhone buddies will be jealous with your Android phone.

You may in fact see Swype for other devices as well like HTC HD2 – a Windows mobile, Blackberry but not on iPhone (at least not yet).

If you happen to have it on your Android phone then let us know in comments how do you like it.  Do you use any other keyboard which you just love?
