Flexibility and ease are the two virtues smartphones have brought to our lives.  Anytime anywhere we can do almost everything, which earlier used to take lots of effort and preparation.

Live broadcasting/streaming and video recording is one such thing.  Earlier only professionals could broadcast live using costly equipment.  And it used to take a lot of time and preparation to do just one live recording.  But iPhone and Android phones make it super easy to start broadcasting anywhere you get an opportunity to record.

All smartphones now a day come with at least a camera which can also record videos.  The default video recording app lets you save the recording locally on your phone and some let you also share them on Twitter and Facebook.

But Android Marketplace and iTunes store have some really interesting apps that provide some extra features.  All of these apps are available for both iPhone and Android from iTunes store and Android Marketplace respectively.  All these apps work on 3G and Wi-fi.  Let’s have a look:

  1. Qik: Qik has revolutionized mobile video broadcasting.  It has made Live recording any moment as easy as tapping on a button.  Some of the Android phones, like Evo 4G, now come preloaded with Qik and on others you can install it from the respective market.  All videos recorded with Qik application are stored online automatically.
When you go online you can have other people view the same live at your user profile, which is something like http://www.qik.com/knowliz and the viewers can share their views at the same time with you.

  2. Ustream: Ustream is another name in this market which provides professionals and enthusiasts a platform to create and share live shows and videos.  Similar to Qik, your videos are stored online automatically, viewers can see you live and share their views about your show.

  4. Bambuser: Bambuser, a Sweden based startup has been supporting this service for sometime.  Check out the complete review here…

  5. YouTube: Obviously, who doesn’t know YouTube.  Now with any iPhone or Android phone, you can record and upload videos directly to YouTube.  YouTube application comes pre-installed on all iPhone and Androids.

Though there are many options for live recording and streaming videos from smartphones, but user experience may vary.  Mostly this variation is because of the multitude of devices available.  So give all of them a try and see which one works for you the best.

Let me know in comments or through a tweet which one you prefer and why.  Also don’t hesitate to share if you use something different for this purpose.
